These are the three fish that remain in my pond from last year. Originally I had 24. These guys are about 4 inches long and seem quite happy.

Seeing as how I love Adam Carolla I already assumed I would love his movie The Hammer and it turns out I was right.  Though the movie could have benefited from some more sophisticated direction, the plot had heart and there were some real comedic zingers.  Highly recommended.

This isn't my video since I'm an idiot and erased my camera memory accidentally.  The George Michael concert was really great - waaay beyond expectations.  I think he is one of the best male vocalists around.  He seems to sound better and better.  It was a great time.  Totally loved every minute

Something is eating my fish.  I started with 24+.  I had 16 at the end of the winter.  There were 12 a few months ago.  Now there are 5.  It's time to restock.

This weekend we planted three tomato plants in the sunniest three spots in the garden.  This being Oregon, the sunniness is relative.  It's probably not enough sun for tomatoes, but we'll see.

My sister just got engaged.  I'm thrilled for her.  They are perfect for each other.  I cried.  Not because I'm so happy for her, but because I've been planning for years for a wedding that hasn't happened and an engagement that may never happen.  And now my younger sister is getting married.  I know it's very petty of me, and I really am honestly thrilled for her, but I'm disappointed it's not me.  Honestly, I don't really even want to get married (mainly because I don't want to get divorced and all the additional heartache that would cause, hasn't there been enough?), but I want some sort of memento of commitment, yes a ring, and a party where I can wear a pretty dress.  Since I have neither a ring, nor someone who wants to give me one, I'm going to try and be the helpful (read: annoying know-it-all) sister and give her all my wedding ideas.  

So far, season four of Battlestar Galactica is kinda sucking.

Today it rained.  I was beginning to think it didn't actually rain in Portland because this is the first time it has rained since I've been here. 

And maggots suddenly appeared in the garage tonight.  Gross.  We figured out they were coming from the garbage can that was emptied today but had escaped from the rotting dog poop my mom put in last night.  Double gross.  She's going to need to find a better way to store the dog poop.

Went to the Alberta Street Fair this weekend where I found a new fantastic yarn store (bought a pattern book I've been looking for.  No yarn.  I do have self-control) and a clothing store with super cute but super expensive clothes.  Then we drove around looking at houses because that's my mom's favorite thing to do, which I find pretty boring, but we did find a really cute park that would be a good place for a wedding.  There was a girl having a quinceañera there that day.  Her dress was turquoise. 

I've been working on a new knitting project and got the left and right front done and then started on the back tonight when I realized I used the wrong ribbing pattern (I did K2 P2 instead of K2 P1) for the fronts...I would normally continue on with the wrong pattern on the back too because that wouldn't matter...normally.  But there is a stitch transition to K1 P1 that looks really weird when I was doing the wrong ribbing pattern but makes WAY more sense if doing the correct K2 P1 pattern...so I'm going to rip out the fronts and do them over.  Sucks.  I was hoping to have the whole thing done for the Oregon Flock & Fiber Fest this weekend....but no.  not going to happen. 

So....I've been working on my resumes and think my non-lab version is pretty good, but my lab one is not looking very good; probably because I really don't want a lab job and don't have my heart in making it look like I know what I'm doing.  Someone just pay me for staying home already!

I was cleaning out the pond today and found a dead fish.  It looked like one of the ones I bought a few weeks ago.  That's the second one from that batch to die.  I don't think it's an epidemic...just a couple sick fish I guess.

We went to Wal-Mart to buy some more goldfish last weekend (and had the most idiotic employee help us...y'all know how I am with stupid people...but I really tried to be pleasant) and came home with about 12. 

The fish from the first batch are really getting big.  They're about 2.5 to 3" long.  The new fish are only about 1.5".  With more fish in there they seem to come out in the open of the pond a little more instead of hiding in the plants.  It's kind of entertaining to watch them swim around. 

We've got really big huge slugs (5-6" long) that live in the backyard and come out at night.  Sometimes they fall into the pond and get all pale in color...but they don't die.   Ask me how I know?  I scooped one out and watched it reanimate on the ground....gross.  But amazing that it can survive in water for a few hours and come back to life.

Every morning Cleo waits at my door for me to wake up and let her into my room. This is the first thing I see every morning:



Creepy. (Yes, my bedroom door has a glass pane...so my mom can make sure I'm not hittin' the pipe)

I finally found out how to put songs as ringtones on my new phone.  It's not like it's hard or anything...but involves a button-pushing work-around (phone: Samsung t619. directions found here) because t-mobile wants you to BUY ringtones, not make your own.  So.

<dork>  I can finally put the Battlestar Galactica theme as my ringtone!!!  Yay!! </dork> 

Maybe I should join a PDX bowling league.
